Possibly the best way to explore the Columbia River Gorge is by car, motorcycle, or even a bus tour. 40 miles west-to-east will take you from boreal rainforest to high desert, with spectacular views of the Columbia River and two massive volcanoes, with stops at exciting attractions and vibrant small towns. 40 miles north-to-south will take you from one breathtaking volcanic mountain to another, with gorgeous scenery and more attractions all along the way.
Wend your way along the White Salmon and Klickitat River valleys, stopping for scrumptious meals and at whitewater rafting outfitters along the way. Visit wineries, take a short hike into hidden magical places, visit a wildlife refuge or an alpaca ranch along the way. Enjoy the bucolic beauty of the rivers, orchards, farms, and ranch lands bordering the roads for miles. Maybe even spend a night or few in a quiet B&B surrounded by whispering pines and birdsong.
Mt Adams Country and the Columbia River Gorge are treasures to be enjoyed, shared, and remembered for a lifetime, and your vehicle is a great way to Discover YOUR Adventure.
