Natural Dye & Rush Print Workshop
Want to know how to transfer texture from rusty objects onto cotton? Learn how while designing your own napkins.
That’s not all -- You’ll learn to extract dye from plant matter and dye your rust printed napkin. This is a full 2 day workshop offered by the Columbia Center for the Arts at the Desert Parsley Fiber Art Studio, 3725 Klindt Dr. in the The Dalles. This workshop is intended to offer an introduction to printing on fabric with rusty items and how to prepare and dye with 3 different types of natural dyes (harvested flowers, processing animal dye such as cochineal, and an extracted natural dye powder). Participants will leave with two personally printed and dyed organic napkins and a handout with basic information on the dye and rust print process.
